I've playtested SK twice and had a great time. Characters were easy to generate, taking a little more than 5 minutes. We were able to get right into play and it moved along very quickly. At first I was hesitant - characters don't have many stats (like skills or feats) and I wasn't sure what I could do at first level. However, it didn't take long to figure out that I could try anything. I didn't feel like my character was weak, unprepared, or going to die any second at first level and that was refreshing! The story flowed quickly between encounters, a little bit like WhiteWolf storytelling. Then, at critical moments like a combat or social encounter the dice came out. I really enjoyed both of these systems as they were easy to learn and flowed very smoothly. I was playing a rogue fighting wine and dagger style. I had a great time integrating the story (whisper a dark secret in an enemies ear to throw him off) and strategy (characters shielding each other while they went in for their big attack). The chase scenes are fun and encourage you to integrate story and character as well. I like twists and surprises when I am playing, so the inspirations and exploding dice are favorite aspects as well :) Overall, it was an easy system to learn and we were able to do quite a bit during one play session. As a player who enjoys the characters and story more than the rules, it was a very refreshing game with rules that support the story rather than the other way around.
