Does switching styles force recast/rebalance?
For example could a Character cast wards under battle magic then trick and switch to free sword keeping up the wards? i can see no game reason or logical reason why not. It takes 2 combat rounds out to do and kind of fulfils the right type of flavour.
Thoughts?

Missed this. But well, yes, there's nothing saying you can't do it. So you can!
Switching styles of your own volition is not a forced rebalance. As you point out, the cost of doing so is the lost time.

I did spot that it does mention this in one of the boxes near the back under the glosses (sorry don't have books here to give page number). However, I think I like it better being able to carry over so i will house rule it that way. I have noticed that most fights seem to last around 6 or 7 turns so the time penalty should be sufficient.

Ah, I see what you mean on p. 234. Yeah, I meant that for physical effects that would logically be impossible to carry over - like Argenvald's Stance is something you can use in Great Weapon but totally impossible to use once you switch to Twin Weapon. To me your magic example makes sense, though - the Wards example - and I'd definitely allow it. There should be something in there about magic vs. physical here. I'll see if I can tuck it in for the print version which is about to get another try at DTRPG's pod service. We'll see if the style sheets come out right this time.
