So I've been looking at how I'm going to sell this game to my group. It's Three Musketeers with Sorcery. It's like Shadowrun only Renaissance. It's a High Fantasy "Age of Discovery" only with Zeppelins. It's... hard to categorize. But then I got to thinking about the answer I got concerning what kind of engines the Zeppelins use and I think I have it:
Alchemy-punk
Anyone have a description that fits it better?

On the one hand I'm glad that it's hard to categorize because I set out to make an RPG that was distinct (the first goal was "fun to play," of course, but "distinct" was in there too!). On the other hand, I can see the marketing difficulties if it doesn't fall into a pre-existing niche.
Alchemy-punk?
Metal Renaissance?
I usually describe it as just fantasy Renaissance, or sometimes Three Musketeers meets 1984. As for selling it to a group, in the past, I always started with the combat system. That's how I started on the internet, too, by posting the combat primer first. Now there are some reviews out (two five-star reviews on the DTRPG page!) so you can refer to those too. But I bet if you just hand a player in your group a combat sheet and say "Play me," then start a combat (no areas, Mood, Inspirations), that will do the trick!
