Song (magic talent)

the Song is a popular implement among Seradynn trolls.
If you have the implement class ability and have choose this implement you can use a history skill about song (example: itinerant singer in the Rhitaign lands) instead of your magic level when you use the implement ability (this is a clear exception to rules about history skills in pag 14).
The target must be able to hear the song (the target must be in the same area or adjacent area).
You can't hide the use of song magic. every character in the same or adjacent area can detect automatically the use of magic and the caster.
You may use the “implement” ability one extra time per scene (major) and two extra times per scene (grand)

I create this talent because i'd like to play the classical wizard that use song to use magic. Your feedback is welcome ;)

EDIT after playtesting i see that the talent is a little overpowered. I make a new flaw to balance it

I trade advantage and disandvantage because using a history skill instead of the wizard's magic level is a very imbalancing power
Example: a 5° level wizard with wand implement has a d4 bonus die. a 5° level wizard with Song implement and a history skill maxed has a d8 bonus die.
I use a big disadvantage (malus range spell) for rebalancing the talent at low levels because at high levels this advantage is lesser powerful.
Example:A 15° level wizard with wand implement has a d12 bonus die. A 15° level wizard with Song implement has a d12 bonus die.
I think that song talent is interesting for multiclassing wizards because is not tied at the wizard level.

Yeah, one of my players is bouncing between Noble, Wizard and Trader. He might like this, he was lamenting not having a staff last session.

I'd like to know the opinion of your players about this talent. I have some doubts about the balance of it. In my group I use the penalty range for balancing it but i'd like to see this talent in other groups because playtesting is very important. have you some ideas about other disandvages to give to this talent for balancing it?

I'd like to work to other homebrew creations. I'm working to a Katana combat school and to magic objects (I'd like the Earthdawn magic objects) and i like to have feedback.

Painting (magic talent)

Requisite: Specialist wizard with painting trap

Painting is a rare implement talent. Few wizards in the world have it.
If you have the implement class ability and have chosen this implement you can send a little item in your painting. Using painting you create a “small pocket dimension” and store things there. You must draw the object in the painting and when you finish to draw the item, it disappear in the real world and appear in the painting. The wizard can store only small objects. You can send in the painting a knife not a zeppelin. Gm is the final arbiter for it. It takes one round to reach in and pull a specific item out of the painting.(minor). You can create a item (major ). With this power you can create a small mundane object. You can’t create a magical or alchemical item. You use the crafting rules (pag 62) using a painter skill instead of a the crafter skill. The total cost of the creating the item is equal to 25% its cash purchase cost (color costs etc).
You can enter in the painting(grand). You must draw yourself in the painting and when you finish you appear in the painting. you can send another character in the painting. If the target is not willing you must make a magic roll against the target magic roll. If you win the target is trapped in the painting. He can do a magic roll every day to escape. if the painting is destroyed when a target is in, the target returns in the real world with 4 body damage. The use of the talent is automatic. You don't use magic roll to activate the talent and you can't have magic surge using it.
You may use a history skill about painting (example: painter in the court of Akra) instead of your magic level when you use the implement ability (this is a clear exception to rules about history in pag 14)

EDIT. after playtesting i see that the talent is underpowered. I remove the magic roll to use the talent and the limitation for combat. Feedback is welcomed

EDIT: i modify the damage.

I modify Song and Painting talent. I'd like to have your opinion about it. I hope that this forum is alive and not dead
