Soul Husk

Level 5

Str 8, Qck 6, Rsn * (see below), Cha 6, Mgc 8, Hrt * (see below)
Body 8, Mood 0-10 (see below)

Armor Quality: varies, typically 2 (Leather shirt)

Weapon Quality: varies, typically 4, preferring swords and cutting weapons

Fighting and Magic Styles: If Heart is </=5: Slasher (Master), If Heart is >5: Berserker (Master) Language of the Stars (Master, see Variant below), Hearts (Master, Awaken Fear and Awaken Grief Tracks only)

Language of the Stars Variant: Replace “Star Seed” with “Void Seed” (1 Mood Damage Ranged, which the Husk gains), Replace “Star in Skull” with the “Void Blossoms” (Target’s eyes turn black, 1 Heart, New attack each round until the Husk is forced to recast/rebalance. At Heart 0, coma. Each Heart loss give the Husk 2 Mood). Replace “Astral Avatar” with “Breath of the Decent” (Ranged, Effects 1 Area, All in Area lose 1 Mood per round (the Husk does not gain this Mood) and Mood may not be spent or gained in that area until you are forced to rebalance).

Inspirations: Choose one, value equal to current Heart: Sate my hunger by consuming others’ Inspirations (Hunger), Destroy what I once loved/feared (Hate/Fear), Destroy those who are Inspired (Hate)

With bleached paper like skin, dead pale eyes, and a whispering voice, the Soul Husks are created when Soul Hail burns an Inspiration from all consuming passion to ash. These poor people once burned with passion in a world where emotions are outlawed; now they are filled with a consuming void that they seek to fill. Sometimes it is better to have never loved, or at least love only moderately. This fate only awaits those that lose all their passions to Soul Hail and have at least one starting Passion greater than 4.

Husks are intelligent undead that feed on the Mood and Passions from others. When someone uses a Mood in the same Area as a Soul Husk, they lose one extra Mood that is consumed by the Husk. When someone uses an Inspiration in the presence (Area) of the Soul Husk the Husk gains 2 Mood and the Inspiration is reduced by one point (as if it had been attacked). Each time the Husk gains or loses/uses a Mood point they gain a point in their Passion and Heart.

A Soul Husk’s Heart and Reason fluctuate as they consume Inspirations. Reason always equals 10-Mood; Heart always equal Mood. They lose 1 Mood each sunrise and sunset. They lose all Mood if subjected to Soul Hail, and go to 10 mood is subjected to Mad Fire. Soul Husks with Inspirations greater than 4 cannot be killed, as all their Inspirations count as their “True Love.”

Soul Husks are intelligent and cunning urban stalkers at low Mood, as they gain mood they quickly become agitated, mad, and manic. When they reach ten Mood they go berserk, losing all sense of reason. They seek to fulfill their Inspirations at all times, but quickly lose their sense of planning when at high Mood. Those attacked by the various Soul Husk Mood draining abilities feel cold, they have a longing for something they lost, but cannot quite articulate.
