Hello Everyone! I just wanted to let you know that work is progressing, and I am more confident than ever that I will beat Starcraft 2 to the market. :)
The full version is definitely more dungeon-crawl friendly. More than that, it is more "traditional style" friendly, by which I mean it is easier to run an old-school style D&D campaign, if that is what you wish, using the SK rules. Of course, scene-based play is still there too.
The setting may or may not get more fleshed out. That might have to wait for some other time. But the mechanics are much better: the talent mess is much easier to deal with now, especially when making high-level PCs. Histories and skills are a lot easier and better; I finally cracked that one. Inspirations and moods are easier for people to use (some people didn't like counting die size increases). Character classes are tweaked here and there to be even cooler. All the combat styles have glosses. The magic system is actually there, complete, with close and high spells. The bestiary is full (deciding whether or not to include art, which would be low-grade, or leave the bestiary unpictured - I lean toward low-grade, myself, but I know some people would rather have nothing). More examples are found throughout the book.
So... yes, work continues. Should be out before SC2, free to people who've bought the original and registered. Price will also be going up when the full version releases, if anyone cares. Probably to US$9.99.

Thats great! Really looking forward to it.
I bought the last edition, but never registered anywhere. But that is ok, I'll buy the next version too: You deserve the ten bucks just for the effort.
I just hope it is "dungeon friendly" and not "dungeon mandatory", and that you'll keep the wonderful setting. I love the way it mixes dark and oppressive with swashbuckling heroics.
Thanks for the update

Arkat, no worries. It is definitely not "dungeon mandatory." Far, far from it.
Also, the registration instructions were sent with an automated email from DTRPG when you purchased. But don't worry about it, I'll send you the updated version free. You deserve it for being such a great fan!
On another note, the sales continue to amaze and gratify me. Now, we're not talking 4e numbers here, of course, or even "My Life with Master" numbers. But total sales are a measurable fraction of MLWM, actually, and the game has made back all the money I spent on art and maps and then some. And it is continuing to sell, a few copies a weekend, over on DTRPG, even after I essentially told people to not buy it and wait for the updated version. So thanks to everyone!
And on a final note, there are more maps that didn't make it into the initial release. Some of them will be in the updated version. There are some very atmospheric ones - very Claw.

Awesome stuff. =D
I have been in the process of moving and acclimatizing... so this is the first time I've checked in for a long time. @_@
Any news on a hardcopy, Mr. Brunner?

Hardcopies will definitely be available, but probably not before the "pre-Starcraft 2" release date I'm shooting for. One of two things will happen: either DTRPG will implement an "order print copy" feature soon, or I will use CreateSpace or Lightning Source on my own. I'm hoping for the former because that would be easier for me, even though I'd have to split more of the money. We will see.
Matt, I hope the move went ok. Are you still in Michigan? I was just in Ann Arbor for a cousin's wedding.

I haven't heard anything about DTRPG implementing print products but I hope they do, too. =)
The move was great, both the process and the end result. ^_^ Six hours from Michigan to West Virginia. I live in a college town called Morgantown. Ah, Ann Arbor was really close to where I use to live!

Didn't meet the Starcraft 2 street date, alas, but I am back to work on the "complete" SK after Gen Con. Hope everyone had a great time at Gen Con!

No worries. I very much look forward to the new version of SK, but don’t mind waiting if it means an even better product. And it gives me time to write about my second round of SK before diving into the new version…
(But any chance of a tentative release date? Eager minds want to know! :)
