I may as well start my thread for posting new Talents I randomly think up.
It should be noted that love tactical combat so don't expect stuff like "Dazzling Gaze" to be one of the Talents I post here. ^_~ I'll leave that stuff to folks better built for it.
I treat Inspirations and Mood points as resources capable of powering special actions. Unless noted otherwise, the expenditure of these resources in their normal capacity triggers the effects of applicable Talents.
Criticisms, comments, etc... Bring 'em to me. =)

Flowing Chain [Martial] You may automatically switch to a different Combat Style if you perform a Balancing Maneuver while fulfilling one of the following; spending 1 Mood point, using an Inspiration or performing a Critical Hit. You must still open with a Balancing Maneuver as usual. At Major Level you may also invoke this effect when performing non-Balancing Maneuvers. At Grand Level you may open with a Maneuver as if you had already performed that Combat Style's Balancing Maneuvers.

Strider [Martial] Whenever you use an Inspiration, spend a Mood point or perform a Critical Hit you may move 1 area after all Maneuvers have been resolved. At Major Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free once per Battle. At Grand Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free twice per Battle.

Power Monger [Martial] Whenever you spend a Mood point or use an Inspiration while using an offensive Maneuver, you may replace the Attack Die with your Strength Die. At Major Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free twice per Battle. At Grand Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free thrice per Battle. Weapon Finesse [Shadow] Whenever you spend a Mood point or use an Inspiration while using an offensive Maneuver, you may replace the Attack Die with your Quickness Die. At Major Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free twice per Battle. At Grand Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free thrice per Battle. Wizened Strike [Martial] Whenever you spend a Mood point or use an Inspiration while using an offensive Maneuver, you may replace the Attack Die with your Reason Die. At Major Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free twice per Battle. At Grand Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free thrice per Battle. Arcane Lance [Magic] Whenever you spend a Mood point or use an Inspiration while using an offensive Maneuver, you may replace the Attack Die with your Magic Die. If this attack is normally weapon-based it now counts as a Magic attack as well. At Major Level you may choose to target an opponent one area away when invoking this Talent's effect. At Grand Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free once per Battle. Force of Personality [Social] Whenever you spend a Mood point or use an Inspiration while using an offensive Maneuver, you may replace the Attack Die with your Charisma Die. At Major Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free twice per Battle. At Grand Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free thrice per Battle. Raging Heart [Martial] Whenever you spend a Mood point or use an Inspiration while using an offensive Maneuver, you may replace the Attack Die with your Heart Die. At Major Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free twice per Battle. At Grand Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free thrice per Battle.

I just wanted to say that I for one, read the stuff you post here. And while I don't have a head for game mechanics, I like what I read.
Some of these seem really useful.

Dual Style [Martial] You must have at least 9 Levels of Warrior in order to select this Talent. You have become so adept with a particular style of fighting that you have learned to weave the attacks of other styles into it with little effort. Choose one Combat Style now called your Primary Style. Now choose another Combat Style, this will be your Secondary Style. When using your Primary Style you may perform the Balancing Maneuvers from your Secondary Style every other action. At Major Level you now progress along the Primary and Secondary Styles as if you were using them normally. However, you may only use the Balancing Maneuvers and the Maneuvers that are directly adjacent to the Balancing Maneuvers. At Grand Level you may now use your Secondary Style fully.

Insightful Transition [Martial] Upon gaining this Talent select one Combat Style you know. This Talent can only be utilized with that Combat Style. Whenever you spend a Mood point or utilize an Inspiration you may invoke the following effect... Choose one legal Maneuver for this round. You may act as if you had performed the chosen Maneuver last Round and declare the actual Maneuver you are going to perform this Round from the chosen Maneuver’s position. At Major Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free once per Battle. At Grand Level you may invoke this Talent's effect for free twice per Battle. In ExampleLet's say MacLeod used the Warrior's Strike Maneuver of the Freesword Combat Style last round. Normally his next Maneuver would be a Balancing Maneuver, Passing Slash, Ranieri's Attack, or Onslaught, right? Utilizing the Insightful Transition Talent, MacLeod expends 1 Mood Point and declares Onslaught. Because of Insightful Transition MacLeod is now allowed to choose any of the Maneuvers he could have before with the addition of the following; Unbalancing Feint and Free Sword Strike. This selection is made as if he had just used Onslaught instead of Warrior's Strike.

Upon gaining this Talent you may permanently add one Maneuver from the Styles listed below to your Five Seasons Combat Style. At Major Level you gain a bonus D8 to Defense against Monster Combat Styles when you are utilizing the Five Seasons Combat Style. At Grand Level you may choose an additional Maneuver. Applicable Style List: Brute, Skulker, Claw/Claw/Bite, Gore&Trample, Guardian, Berserker, Slasher

Frank, sir, I was wondering... Does using Inspirations, Critical Hits and Mood points the way I do with my Talents break the feel of your game?
I know folks end up largely using a game their own way but I was just wondering if the items I'm suggesting are muddying your vision at all.

Vermin Lord [Magic] You must have at least 6 or more Levels in Wizard and the Death Lore Spell Combat Style to select this Talent. You may dissemble your body into a swarm of bugs, rats, snakes or similar creatures. To achieve this form you must spend an action transforming during which your Defense result is set at 4. When in this form you must use the Swarm Monster Combat Style, have an Armor rating equal to a quarter of your Wizard Levels and a Weapon rating equal to half of your Wizard Levels. At Major Level you may still use the Death Lore Spell Combat Style whilst in this form. At Grand Level you may transform instantly without expending an action.

Bestial Instincts [Martial] You may only select this Talent if you began as a Savage or are a Prince/ss of Wolves and have at least 3 Levels of Savage. You gain access to the Claw/Claw/Bite Monster Combat Style at Apprentice rank. At Major Level you may perform all Tricks at one die higher (including Defense) whilst utilizing the Claw/Claw/Bite Combat Style. At Grand Level you Master the Claw/Claw/Bite Monster Combat Style.

Spellstalk Mutation [Magic] Through a magical phenomenon your body has sprouted Spellstalks! You are hideous and hunted but you have gained new powers in lieu of normalcy. You count as Spellbound permanently. Reduce your Reason and Charisma by 1. Increase your Strength, Quickness and Magic by 1. At Major Level you gain access to the Tentacles/Spellstalks Monster Combat Style at Master rank. At Grand Level you may roll a bonus D6 whenever defending against magical effects.

Well as you said you like the tactical aspect of the game. and I can see that! :)
The first couple of Talents say when spending a Mood Point... is that spending a Mood Point for that talent or any time you spend a Mood Point? (Can you normally spend mood points... ? I can't remember right this moment... I feel like you can right?!)
for Vermin Lord... does Death Lore allow changing your body like that as a close or High spell? its cool, but almost seems more like you would need both Were Magic and Death Lore to make a spell fusion like this.

That's a good question, Jason. Initially I had figured that burning an Inspiration or Mood point would be simply for the effect... but now I think that the Talent effect should be invoked whenever normal uses of Inspiration and Mood points are achieved. But yeah, you can spend a Mood point in the original SK to roll a single bonus Heart die with your roll.
As for the Vermin Lord... It is a spell but it is one gained specifically from the Talent. But yeah, it is much like Were Magic's ability to transform into animal shapes except that it is very specific. The reason I tied it to Death Lore is because it seemed like the evilest sort of magic in the game. :P

Death Warmed Over [Magic] You are cursed with undeath. Arguably you are fortunate for your mind remains. Increase your Body and Strength by 1 but your Charisma and Heart are both reduced by 1. At Major Level you gain access to the Undead Monster Combat Style at Master rank. At Grand Level you become immune to Critical Hits.

Immensity [Martial] You may select and begin with this Talent at character creation if your GM allows you to. Doing so means your character is 9' tall and your first Talent selection is consumed. Reduce your Quickness by 2, increase your Body by 1 and increase your Strength by 1. At Major Level you have access to the Giant Monster Combat Style at Master rank. At Grand Level your Strength increases by 1.

Hm, for something like this, I'd say whenever spending a Mood point. Mood points are even more valuable in the revised version because you can spend one to soak a point of damage (you're so on top of things that you just manage to dodge, or you're so invigorated that a laceration isn't going to bring you down right now). Also, talents are more valuable in the revised version. The way talents work now, you get a maximum of three, but they get more powerful as you go up in levels. Each talent in a chain includes all the previous, lower-level talents in that chain. You can swap talents in and out by spending enough time training - you stop practicing one talent and then start practicing another and soon enough the new has replaced the old. One big reason for going with this method is that it cuts down dramatically on the time to create a high-level NPC. Also it's in keeping with the rules-light/medium side of things. Most importantly it hasn't really felt in play like a PC has lost any complexity, so that, combined with the ease of high-level NPC creation, has made it the way to go. All of which means to say that talents are important, so if you're taking one that requires a Mood or Inspiration use to activate, then it should be even more important. Therefore I'd go with the "anytime you spend a Mood point, even if for another use primarily, the talent activates." As for the other question - does this sort of Talent break my personal sense of the game - no, not at all. Some of these talents are a little off-balance with respect to the power level of other things, but that's to be expected since you haven't seen those other things in the revised version yet. :) But the idea of being able to activate a special power with Mood or Inspiration - sure. I think there's ample precedent for it in fantasy literature - everything from the Hulk and limit breaks to Princess Bride style True Love - and it seems fairly "realistic" to me as well. There aren't any talents powered like that in the revised version, but it wouldn't be out of keeping with the rest, in my opinion.

Awesome. This means that the Mood control of my Holy Blade Combat Style is going to be even more important than it was before! Might have to nerf it a little. I guess that means I have to revise all of the Talents I wrote when revised SK drops, eh? I'm sure the pre-release beta revision will drop soon... but is there any way I could get a peak at what the new talents will look like? Alrighty. =P A lot of what I was trying to do was avoid adding any more bits that you have to keep track of... ya know, like another resource or something. By off-balance in power, do you mean that they are weaker or stronger...? Or a mixture of both?
