(starting a new thread so I doesn't look I'm the only one posting here ;)
So it turns out that Mr Brunner has been working on SK. In the news thread he explains why he has been absent (Congratulations with the new baby, new job and new house!), and outlines some of the changes the game will undergo. I must admit I read this with some trepidation. As he went through some of the ideas I went like, YES, YES.. NO! :) But I'm sure it'll turn out great.
Anyway, he spoke about a houserule he uses; strenght tests to recover after combats. Color me intrigued. Anyone know how this works?
But I hope he'll have time now and then, to answer question about the current rules for us who want to keep on using them while we wait for the second edition.

Hurrah! Indeed. =) I'm glad my prodding spurned Mr. Brunner into revealing some info. I'm incredibly glad that nothing bad was going on and instead turns out to be all good. ^_^
I can't wait for the updated pdf and eventual hard copy release, its gonna be awesome. =D

For clarity to anyone who missed the post in the other thread, it's the fifth or so post here (last post as of writing this). Also: woot!

Frank, you say that you are tweaking the combat styles... Does this include the Grand Styles as well? I assume. Do you also plan on altering the disparity between the normal and Grand Styles?
Either way, I'll have to tweak my own styles, eh? =D

I'm a bit hesitant to suggest changes, since every change he'll consider the longer it will take to for the final book to be published.
Even so, there are a couple of changes I would like to see. I would like to see a larger jump in power between apprentice and master levels. Getting a couple new moves far into the style doesn't seem to be enough. Maybe a +1 damage or +1 die size across the board on all moves, in addition to the new maneuvers, would make masters more formidable?
For magic styles I would like to see more levels of power. While it is thematically pleasing to have a fighter with many different fighting styles, I would rather have mages with a core identity: I'd like to create a druid that grows more and more powerful. Not a mage that is part druid, part witchdoctor, part enchanter. While it is cool to have more than one style, there should be a core style. Giving magic styles a level or two more more would fix this (neophyte, apprentice, adept, master, grand master).
One can dream, right? :)

I agree with your point about Magic Styles. 'Core Identity' really speaks to how I'd like to view a Wizard. They would have this really strong core style of magic and the option of picking up secondary styles as they progress at the cost of advancing in their core style. Then again... this approach would be a little more complicated.
