Before I get on to today's play test... put some placeholders in for the pages you're linking to at least (until you get them up), it's a bit tacky to have virtually every link go to a "file not found" page. Plus, many people won't make it to the forums link if the first three links they clicked were broken already.

Anyway, today's game/play test was very fun. I liked seeing more of the game's rules in action. I still think the combat system is my favorite part, though. It's quite well done for being so simple, and runs pretty smoothly. I still think Guardsman is awesomely awesome. I'll send you some more specific playtest and primer notes to your email, Mr B, once I get around to it...

Going to bed, but to Mr. Brunner: check your email! Sent you notes through p.36 on the primer copy I've got. Didn't get through the last pages, but I really ought to get to bed... I can get through the last few later :)

Hm, I'm thinking of adding a "How to Use the Primer" piece to the document. That might be helpful for folks.

I added that sidebar to the primer: "How to Use the Primer" just in case people were wondering. I'll upload the new version when I get home. On my way home now, but I was looking over your comments. Quick question: When you say you can't justify Blizzard Mind, are you saying that an extra d4 attack in a round is not that good? I was almost thinking it was too good. Also about Cyclone Kick, well, yes. Maybe take that last attack off. In the playtest yesterday, though, it seemed more like Twin Weapon and (interestingly) Arrowheart were doing more damage than Five Seasons. Guardsman has great utility - it got Henry out of there safe and mostly sound - so it had its moment to shine. Swashbuckler had a Death from Above and a Swath of Destruction. I was actually wondering if Five Seasons was not quite powered enough - at least from its basic stances - but then that is kind of the point of the style. Well, just thinking out loud here.

Sam's never been one of those "plays optimally" types of guys. I'll try Five Seasons myself some time, probably would work well.

As far as Blizzard mind... every single other attack in that column lets you get that attack NOW, at a higher attack die, with a better/equal defense die. In that row, the other two let you get that d4 attack NOW, but this lets you move into the column, so that makes sense. Once you're in there though it seems quite inefficient of an option...

Yeah, I see your point. I was mainly comparing it to Meditation on Fleeting Summer as a set-up move for Cyclone Kick, Sere Point, etc.

BTW, "sere" is an Edgar Allan Poe reference, sort of, for his autumn poems, and creepy pieces like Ulalume.
